Why This Guide Exists
Indiana makes many arrest and booking records available under the Access to Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3, but no single system answers every question. The Vigo County Sheriff's Office creates county jail booking records and operates JailTracker for current custody. The Indiana Department of Correction publishes offender information for people in state correctional custody, and MyCase plus the Vigo County Clerk document what happens in court. Focused public-record requests cover retained material that is not online. This site organizes those official sources, instructions, and request paths without copying or storing their photographs.
What Readers Can Find
The guides separate current custody from historical arrest and court information:
- The home page explains current JailTracker searches, recent-arrest and daily-log requests, booking records, and lawful correction or removal routes.
- Most Wanted explains Vigo County's warrant-check options and official tip channels.
- City guides cover Terre Haute, West Terre Haute, and Seelyville, including the different police publication practices in each place.
- Instructions distinguish the county jail roster from IDOC offender records, federal custody, immigration detention, and public court files.
- Records guidance identifies the sheriff's request portal and explains why a narrowly described booking record or photograph request is more useful than a broad search.
