This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, obtain an official booking record, release a person, or post bond. Contact the responsible agency directly for those services.
Official Vigo County Contacts
For county jail or sheriff records, use the contact that matches the request:
Vigo County Sheriff's Office
600 West Honey Creek Drive
Terre Haute, IN 47802
Main line: (812) 462-3226
Current office hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The current contact page directs callers to option 5 for the main office and jail administration. The sheriff's inmate lookup guide directs custody-search questions to option 1. Because older published hours differ, call before an in-person visit. Emergency response remains available around the clock; call 911 for an emergency.
Public Records
Deputy Jeff Fox
(812) 462-3226, extension 73339
Jeff.Fox@VigoSheriff.IN.gov
Report business: reports@vigosheriff.in.gov
Submit a written request through the sheriff's official public-record portal. Indiana's Access to Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3, governs access, but exemptions, redactions, and retention rules may affect what can be released. Central Dispatch and 911 records use a separate route at (812) 462-3333 or 911director@vigosheriff.in.gov.
Choose the record system by the person's custody stage:
- For a current Vigo County Jail search, booking sheet, or retained intake photograph, begin with the home-page records guide, JailTracker, and the sheriff's records custodian.
- For a possible active warrant, use the cautious routes on Most Wanted. MyCase is useful for public case events but is not a comprehensive warrant-clearance service.
- For a recent arrest after release, request the sheriff's narrowly dated daily log or booking record. Vigo County publishes no separate official recent-bookings feed.
- For custody-change notices, use Indiana VINE/SAVIN. A notification service does not replace confirmation from the jail.
- For a city police report, contact the agency that made the report. Terre Haute, West Terre Haute, and Seelyville follow different request and fee practices even when detention later occurs at Vigo County Jail.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Indiana Department of Correction Offender Search.
- For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration detention, use the ICE detainee locator.
